The lockdown is a bane and a boon. While we no longer have to waste time commuting to work, many are unfortunate in that the lockdown has cut off sources of income. This is the story of another case of the latter situation.
From a middle-class citizen to someone who is now struggling to make ends meet, meet Siti Suzanne, a single mother of 5 who previously worked as an analyst for an oil and gas company. Journalist @FareezAzmann shares her tale:

“Reality of living for the M40 turned B40. 45-year-old Siti Suzanne, a single mother to 5 children was once an analyst for an oil and gas company. 8 months ago she lost her job, There were times when she had no food or money due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is her story.”
She explains in the 2-minute 17-second video that she has been struggling to find a job since losing her previous duties.
“I’m devastated there is no support. It’s actually quite depressing.”
What’s even more heartbreaking is that Suzanne also says she has heart complications but has been forced to put off taking her required medication because she can no longer afford it.

“I pushed forward the money (meant for medications) towards feeding my children because that’s the most important matter to attend to right now.”
She then explains that she is dependant on the medication for her health complications. She also has done an operation, inserting a piece of rubber in her heart.
“I actually need the medications, but since I can’t afford them I have to make do without. I just take the important medications such as the ones for blood-related issues.”
She continued to say that there were times that were just awful when she could not even afford food. She was forced to take her struggles to social media, asking other Malaysians for food assistance.

“There were 2 or 3 instances when I was broke and I had to ask others if they had food to spare.”
However, despite her being in a bad place, she still felt empathic towards other mothers who shared the same fate. She ended her interview by saying that her main priority was finding a job to get back afloat.
Fareez also attached Suzanne’s bank account details so other helpful Malaysians could assist as much as they can. You too can do your part, even if it’s the smallest amount.
Semangat bangkit demi keluarganya tidak pernah pudar.
Harapannya agar ada pihak yg dpt memberinya pekerjaan.
Ini realiti golongan M40, ada yg terkesan teruk.
