According to the Prime Minister…

“This is expected to benefit more than 11 million households, senior citizens and singles, costing RM4.6 billion.”

He went on to add that the Bantuan Kehilangan Pendapatan (BKP) will also be introduced in October, and will channel RM500 to workers who have lost their income, as calculated based on the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and the Social Security Organisation’s (Socso) data this year. In addition, applications for i-Citra will also be open starting from July 15th, with first payments expected to be credited by August.

“All members below the age of 55 are eligible to apply for i-Citra, which allows them to withdraw up to a maximum of RM5,000 subject to their total combined balance in both Account 1 and 2. The approved withdrawal amount will be paid for a period of up to five months, with a fixed monthly payment of RM1,000 per month subject to savings balance and minimum of RM50.”

Not only that, all individuals – regardless of their income status – will be able to apply for a six-month loan moratorium with borrowers only having to file to their respective banks.

“A six-month moratorium will be given to all individual borrowers, whether they are from the B40, M40, or T20 groups, as well as micro-businesses. There will be no more conditions such as salary cuts or job losses, and no need for documentation when making applications. You just need to apply, and automatic approval will be given.”

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin also shared that the government plans to allocate RM100 million to aid more than 8,000 people in the arts and creative industry. The allocation includes incentives for the production of works and digital content, career opportunities, upskilling programmes, Social Security Organisation (Socso) contribution, and the procurement of products for the purpose of television, radio and song creation productions.
