
The devastating news of Chadwick Boseman’s death sent shock waves throughout the world and the disbelief from his fans, friends and family.
Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and Da 5 Bloods director Spike Lee have already said they had no inclination that Boseman was battling colon cancer, a disease he was diagnosed with in 2016. Marvel boss Kevin Feige reportedly only learned about Boseman’s diagnosis on the day he passed away.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor kept his diagnosis and suffering tight-lipped except only to a tight-knit circle of friends and his team were aware of the actor’s diagnosis. Boseman’s long-time agent, Michael Greene, was one of the few people, and he explained Boseman’s humble reasoning for not revealing to more people, especially his die hard fans.

Greene revealed in an interview that Boseman’s mother Carolyn, was the main reason he kept his cancer battle private.

“[She] always taught him not to have people fuss over him,” explained Greene. “He also felt in this business that people trip out about things, and he was a very, very private person.”
