How Much Would You Pay To Support The Local Arts Industry? #TerkiniWithNandini

today24 April 2020

Background

COVID-19 has had a major impact on many sectors, including the the art industry! Actors and theater workers have been struggling during this pandemic. How much would you pay to support the local arts industry?

In this episode of #TerkiniwithNandini Fly’s AM Mayhem and Nandini discuss would you support your local artist during this pandemic?!

Fly’s AM Mayhem and Nandini agree that our local artist are struggling during this MCO implementation, not being able to act or even perform in large spaces has proven to be a huge damper on their wallets.

However, we do live in a digital media era, which has been a great tool for artist to still be connected to their fans.

But do not fret the government has allocated financial aid.

“It’s probably one of the industries that will suffer for the foreseeable future because of social distancing right, MCO will end but movie theaters are closed, no performances, cause you can’t do anything that opens up the possibility of a lot of people being in the same space.”

“A lot of artist have been getting really creative, they’ve been doing live sessions but there are some still struggling”

Good thing there is a government initiative that’s giving one off payments to local artist to create art during this MCO period. That got me thinking, say there’s a live show online but if you had to pay for it, would you pay?” – Nandini

With this pandemic casting a shadow on our lives, it’s important that we support each other as much as possible.

“I think with the situation right now if I’m a fan? I would!” – Hafiz

This sentiment should be practiced, if we locals do not support our local artist, who will?

“Yes guys, can we support our local artist, we don’t want them to continue being starving artist, we think that phrase is funny, but it’s not, it’s not cute. These are the people who entertain you, we have those TV shows because we have creative individuals out there who are creating it for us, we need to support them.” – Nandini

Watch the discussion down below:

Conclusion is, it’s no doubt that this pandemic is a hard and stressful time for us all, even our local artist need your help, and support! Also don’t forget the least we can do to contribute and ease the burden of the frontliners is by simply #stayathome but if you have funds to spare please don’t forget the less fortunate #kitajagakita.
