Let’s be cautious.
Everyone is struggling because of the raging pandemic that seems to have no end. Some have lost their jobs and are struggling to put food on the table. Others haven’t seen their loved ones since before the start of the pandemic. But the most important tale to tell is the struggle of our frontliners, who witness the horror of the impact head-on. With thousands of cases every day, not everyone is lucky enough to survive.
A tweet shared by user @syazanaMI shows a series of Instagram stories from frontliners who express their struggles in the hospital after having to face emotionally tearing moments with COVID patients and their loved ones.
This is real. This is freaking real. COVID-19 is real and just claimed another life.

The first photo explains that a patient doesn’t look like they will survive the virus. “Mlm semalam dia slowly deteriorate (Last night she was slowly deteriorating).” They ended the caption with, “Looks like it’s gonna be an emotional war today.”
The next photo shows a frontliner who has seemed to hit a dead end with their duty. I mean, understandably enough, not everyone has the strength to tell another that their loved one is not going to make it.
“How to tell a patient that she is dying?”
“She is awake. No tube but her oxygen is really really bad. Elderly. Not for intubation or CPR.” They go on questioning how they’d go about this dilemma, clearly clueless and understandably so.
“I hate my job right now. I fricking hate it.”
The story’s caption ends as such with a background photo of what looks like the frontliner being seemingly clueless on what their next move should be.
The next story is yet another tear-jerking one. It explains that the frontliner is due to transfer a patient. They express that there is no time to do anything else that was once important to them. “Goodbye AM review. Goodbye family updates. Goodbye sanity. Goodbye lunch. Goodbye Zuhur. Goodbye Asar. Takpe. Yang mana urgent dah selesai (It’s okay. Whatever is urgent is done).”
They end the story by understanding that reality is inevitable.
“Makcik. Please don’t die until I balik (come back). Please hang on until then.”
The final story shows that the COVID patient has already passed away. The family has accepted their loved one’s faith and requested that someone nearby teaches the patient to say a prayer.
The frontliner who seems to be at a loss for words, only manages to say one thing.
“I’m so sorry.”

“Didik orang lain. Kita kena bantu frontliners. Stay safe. (Teach others. We have to help our frontliners. Stay safe).”
