Report finds that key freedoms of expression in Malaysia were ‘obstructed’ in 2020

A recent study done by Civicus Monitor has found that Malaysia is one of the countries in which civil liberties and freedom of expression are “obstructed.”

In their annual report called “People Power Under Attack 2020”, Civicus Monitor found that the COVID-19 pandemic caused civic space to decline worldwide.

Only 3.4 percent of people actually live in an open society. In Asia, the only ‘open’ country is Taiwan.
