Yes, luggage fees can be a real pain.

For these four travelers who were traveling from Kunming, China, they were not willing to pay the quoted US$46.35 (300 yuan) luggage fees for their box of oranges.

The four of them had purchased the 30kg box of oranges during their business trip to China’s Yunnan Province.

They had purchased these oranges – roughly 160 of them – for US$7.70.
