Watch: Husband Teaches His German Wife To Speak Bahasa; Her Accent Steals Hearts

today10 July 2021

Background

Interracial marriages are becoming more and more common in Malaysia.

Tons of marriages now consist of two people who have very different cultures and traditions. What was once seen as a clash of cultures, is now a norm and we love to see it! After all, overcoming a difference in cultures is wholly possible if both individuals are respectful and attentive. Heck, a multicultural marriage and home is both beautiful and unique – as you get to celebrate each other’s traditions. Take for example this couple who has gained traction on TikTok. A Malaysian user, Riza Amir has been posting adorable TikToks of himself and his German wife, Michelle.

On particular video has caught the eyes (and hearts!) of netizens.

In a clip uploaded onto their TikTok account, @amirchelly, trying to teach Michelle bahasa.  But what really stands out, is Michelle’s keenness as she follows her husband’s directions, so much so that her accent sounds very much like a regular Malaysian!

What’s funnier is towards the end of the video, Riza corrects Michelle, only for her to go, “haish” in the most adorable(ly Malaysian!) way.

“Nevermind, with time, for sure will be fluent in bahasa Melayu” – Netizen

Meanwhile, a closer look at the comments section of the video found shows that netizens are bemused by Michelle’s attempts, while also being blown away by their synergy.
