All The Actors Said To Appear (& Re-Appear) In The Upcoming ‘Spiderman 3’ Blockbuster

today10 December 2020

Marvel is taking “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” to a whole new level!

As the days go by and the 2021 release date draws closer, fans of the Spider-Man franchise are being given gift after gift in the form of new revelations for the cast of the next instalment. After all, the series has to quite a big moment to pick up from, following the MAJOR cliffhanger in the 2019 ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ movie.

So far, what we do know is that we will be seeing Benedict Cumberbatch’s ‘Doctor Strange’ take up the mantel of mentor to the Peter Parker.  The duo will be facing Jamie Fox, who has been confirmed to return as ‘Electro’. Jamie Foxx’s villainous role is a reprise of his 2014 character from the Andrew Garfield-starring ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’. Now, the confirmation that Foxx’s character will be making an appearance in the latest instalment of the Spider-Man franchise is interesting. After all, he comes from a ‘different’ time, where the actor playing Spider-Man is someone other than Tom Holland, the main man that is meant to be fronting the current Spider-Man timeline.

To add to the intrigue is the confirmation of the return of an even more iconic villain from the franchise – Dr Otto Octavius (a.k.a Doctor Octopus). The character will also be played by the original actor, Alfred Molina, who was the antagonist in the 2004 Tobey Maguire fronted ‘Spider-Man’ films. There has yet to be clarification as to whether Molina will be returning as the villain from Sam Raimi’s original film or if he will be altering his character to suit the MCU incarnation of the character. Nevertheless, the introduction of these two villains, from movies with two different ‘Spider-Men’ is really setting the ball going on the idea that the upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ movie will be heavy on the ‘multiverse’ theory.

Because, that’s not all!

And according to reports by Collider, we will see Kirsten Dunst return  ‘MJ’. With Andrew Garfield also rumoured to return with his spidey suit, can we also expect Emma Stone’s ‘Gwen Stacy’? There are also rumours that a deal is being laid out to get Tobey Maguire, the OG Spider-Man, to reprise his role.

The theory would make sense, especially if the film franchise were to want to follow in the massive success of its animated counterpart ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’. However, without actual confirmation from Sony/Marvel, we can only pay that this ‘news’ does not regress into becoming anything but passing rumours.
