Does Fat Shaming Encourage A Healthier Lifestyle?! #TerkiniWithNandini

today9 June 2020

Background

Fat shaming is still an ongoing topic in today’s day and age, it’s the sad reality that we live in and with the easy access of social media, it can go south!

In this episode of #TerkiniwithNandini Fly’s AM Mayhem and Nandini discuss does fat shaming encourage a healthier lifestyle?!

Nandini and Fly’s AM Mayhem agree on the fact that, being a size zero does not equal being healthy, we as human beings come in different shapes and sizes regardless on what we consume.

“This gym in KL fat shamed a woman for inquiring about their weight loss program that they offer. We need to talk about fitness centers approach on the whole healthy lifestyle and how they constantly fat shame people. Gyms are there to help me get fitter, suppose to guide, help and support. But that’s not the case. So many people are terrified to walk into gyms because they give the ‘judgiest’ looks.”

No matter what size you’re at even if you’re supposedly a fit person, people still find a way to shame you and your body! If it’s not your size, its your hair, your skin, your eyes! People will just find one way or another to shame others.

When people go to the gyms right they are usually at their lowest, do these instructors know what kind of courage and will power it takes to get to that point where they want to change things in their lives.” – Nandini

“They are there to improve on themselves!” – Hafiz

Bottom line is fat shaming and on top of that publicly shaming a person is not right! There are always more respectable approach to things.
