Gold House has revealed its list of the 100 Most Impactful Asians of the Year in conjunction with the month May which marks Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in the States and with it, Gold House — a nonprofit collective that seeks to promote equity and more authentic Asian and Pacific Islander representation in a way that benefits society as a whole. The list comprises the most influential Asians across a broad spectrum of industries and organizations. US Vice President Kamala Harris, Oscar winners H.E.R. and Chloé Zhao, and the K-pop group BLACKPINK are among the list of politicians, entrepreneurs, athletes, and entertainers honoured.
According to Variety Bob Iger, Daniel Dae Kim, George Takei, Lea Salonga, Lisa Ling, Michael B. Jordan, and Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh served as the judges this year! Watch the video that dropped unveiling the list:
Other notable Asian celebrities listed are Gemma Chan, Olivia Munn, joined by K-pop superstars BLACKPINK, Saturday Night Live’s Bowen Yang, Oscar nominee Riz Ahmed, TV host Jeannie Mai, multihyphenate entertainer, and activist Padma Lakshmi, beauty influencer Patrick Starrr, and hip-hop artist Saweetie (who many are unaware has half Asian descent.) Both Chloé Zhao and H.E.R. receive the honour fresh off the red carpet and their Oscar wins.
Simu Liu, star of the upcoming Marvel Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and an impact list honoree, said:
“It’s a tremendous honor to be recognized by my community. I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked on a number of definitive projects within the Asian diaspora, and have been a direct benefactor of the efforts of organizations like Gold House. I’m fiercely proud of my Asian American/Canadian heritage, and I’m extremely excited to continue showing the world what it means to be unapologetically Asian.”
