Bridgerton Star Rege-Jean Page Is Your New Internet Boyfriend!

today25 February 2021

Background

Netflix’s Bridgerton has got it all: scandal, romance, bougie balls, and, of course, a jaw-dropping male lead. Regé-Jean Page plays Simon Bassett, the Duke of Hastings, *drool* and I’m not saying you’ll definitely be all over his charm and his hot-hot scenes with co-star Phoebe Dynevor, but you should maybe make a plan to pick your jaw up off the floor.

The 30-year-old actor has been in the industry for half his life, but only recently made his debut on American TV. So to help you get yourself a little more familiar, I took the liberty of doing a deep dive to find out everything you need to know about him. You’re welcome!

He used to be in a punk band

That’s right! As an angsty teen, Regé-Jean formed a punk band with his brother where he played drums and sang as a way to get his frustrations out. And to complete the punk look, he also dyed his hair tons of different colors, including blue, purple, and green.

His breakout role was a 2016 History Channel remake of Roots

In case you haven’t seen it, let me tell you that his portrayal of Chicken George was amazing. So amazing, in fact, it caught the eye of Shonda Rhimes’ producing partner, Betsy Beers.

Bridgerton wasn’t his first Shonda Rhimes show

Yup, surprise! He’s actually worked with Shonda before. He played Leonard Knox in the legal drama For the People.

He’s got even more stuff coming out this year

Eeek! As if one hit show wasn’t enough, you can also catch Regé-Jean in the 1960’s romance movie Sylvie’s Love, hitting Amazon Prime on Dec. 23. He plays a drummer, which, TBH seems like the perfect character for him considering his punk-rock past.
