Everyone has these moments, and celebrities are no exceptions!
On The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, the star revealed that his mother believed rumours that he will be in the third Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland. Except…this isn’t the case. DeHaan tried hard to make it clear to audiences and fans alike that he will NOT be returning for the new Spider-Man film, and everyone believed him…except his mom.
“She’s my biggest fan,” DeHaan said, adding that, “she has Google alerts on me so if something comes up about me on the Internet, she’s probably the first to read it.”
He also explained that,
“And I’d be FaceTiming her during this past year and she’d be like, ‘So, I hear you’re in the new Spider-Man movie’ and I’d be like, ‘No, Mom.’”
Amidst chuckles, he added later on that, “she didn’t believe me.”
In a bid to prove the truth to his mother, the star said he went to the extent of “[creating] my own Google Alert for my mom so she could read on the Internet that I wasn’t in Spider-Man…”

To avoid confusion, DeHaan was in a certain Spider-Man franchise called The Amazing Spider-Man 2, starring Andrew Garfield as the titular role. This franchise by Sony Pictures is separate from the one starring Tom Holland as the web-slinging superhero, although rumours have it that maybe, juuuuust maybe, these two films could collide in a multiverse, as predicted by this meme that has been taking over the Internet for a while now.
While we are all putting out hope that DeHaan’s mother is right, sadly, the fact is we won’t be seeing him in the upcoming Spider-Man film. But in the future? Who knows! So don’t give up just yet *wink
