Christina Hendricks revealed that when she had to contend with questions from the press for the series Mad Men, one question left her bemused.

“There certainly was a time when we were very critically acclaimed, and getting a lot of attention for our very good work and our very hard work, and everyone just wanted to ask me about my [undergarment] again,” she explained to the outlet.
But she would be happy to talk about her character, Joan Harris!
“Some people have called her a feminist, but I would not,” she explained. “I think she’s smart and able. I think she knows that she deserves to be treated in a certain way, but her methods are not technically what you would call ‘feminist.’ Maybe now you would, but I don’t think you would have at the time.”
However, she also revealed that she and Joan are not as alike as many might think…
“I’m an actress. I am completely not Joan. Not in any way,” she said. “I wish I was more like Joan.”
Also, here’s a little fun fact: Did you know that it is Hendricks’ hand on the movie poster for American Beauty?

The star posted a photo of the said poster on her Instagram along with the surprising caption,
“Fun fact…. wait for it…I used to be a model and sometimes a hand model…. this is my hand and another model’s stomach….proud to be a part of this film in ANY WAY!!!”
That’s right. In her early days, Hendricks began modelling in New York, London, and Japan between the ages of 18 and 27 before transitioning into appearing in commercials. And the rest, as they say, is history.
