The global phenomenon that is BLACKPINK couldn’t and wouldn’t be as big as they are if it weren’t for the members that make up the group. There’s no doubt about it – Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa and Rosé and their multifaceted talents, quirky personalities and down-to-earth nature are the magical combination that lends to BLACKPINK’s success. What with being the most-followed girl group on Spotify and the most-subscribed music group, female act, and Asian act on YouTube as well as having a combined following of over 140 million on Instagram – it’s no secret that the girls are well-loved in the music industry. As such, fans are always on the lookout for more tidbits in order to get to know the girls better and – thankfully – following the release of their first full-length album, the girls have been making appearances on various music and variety shows as well as in their very own Netflix documentary.

One particular TV appearance has fans abuzz as Lisa talks about her ideal type. Although Lisa has previously mentioned that she’s a fan of 41-year-old ‘Train to Busan’ actor Gong Yoo, it seems that her liking for Gong Yoo goes beyond just admiration. Instead, on a recent episode of the hit South Korean TV show ‘Knowing Brothers’ (aka Men On A Mission/Ask Us Anything), Lisa named Gong Yoo as her ‘ideal type’.

While explaining that she’s a big fan of Korean dramas, she named ‘Guardian: The Lonely and Great God – Goblin’ as one of the all-time favourites. One of the hosts then asked Lisa what she thought of Gong Yoo, who is the lead in the drama and Lisa reacts as any typical 23-year-old fan would at the mention of their favourite star.

It is a norm for South Korean celebrities to be asked who amongst their fellow celebrities fits their expectations for their future partner. Often done on variety and/or entertainment shows, by asking a celebrity their ideal type, fans are given an insight into who/what their fave celebrity looks for in a potential partner. With Lisa naming Gong Yoo, what kind of man is she attracted to? Gong Yoo is known to be shy, down to earth and intelligent. With a B.A. degree in theatre, Gong Yoo started out as a video jockey before getting his big break in the 2007 drama ‘Coffee Prince’, a drama that he would later say is “a project that reawakened my dimming passion, so it’s meaningful to me.”

Since the episode with BLACKPINK aired, Gong Yoo has publicly responded to Lisa’s confession, sharing his flustered reaction on ‘Entertainment Weekly Live’:
“I saw that in an article. She requested an autograph so I passed one along. I sent a message of support along with it. I’m grateful that she watches my work with such affection.”
