In just four hours and one minute, this Harry Potter star broke Jennifer Aniston’s Guinness World Record for the fastest accumulation of one million followers on Instagram last year. Which, star exactly? Well, it’s none other than the actor that played…

Rupert Alexander Lloyd Grint himself!
While Emma Watsons was the only one of the trio (consisting of herself, Daniel Radcliffe and Grint) with an Instagram account for years, Grint decided to finally hop on the social media train and in doing so, earned himself the record title. Despite the Harry Potter franchise coming to an end a decade ago, it still holds a place in the hearts of kids from the 90s and onwards. And while you may think it was his stint as the sardonic, wisecracking coward-turned-embodiment-of-what-a-Gryffindor-is-known-to-be is what gained him the title, he seems to think otherwise. After all, his first-ever post featured a very, very, very important person: his daughter Wednesday.

As a 90s kid, it’s odd to see a star we’ve practically grown up alongside with his/her own child – reality check, tonnes of them already do! – but that seems to have worked in Grint’s favour. Not only did his fame as a third of the Harry Potter leads lend a hand in him smashing Anniston’s record, his choice to debut his daughter with his first-ever post on the social media site had fans abuzz. His record-breaking post included the sweet caption:
“Hey Instagram….only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert,”
He now has more than four million followers. Speaking to ET, Grint shared that the record and his subsequent reception on the platform were – to put it mildly – shocking.
“I don’t believe it. It’s very, very surreal. I never thought I would [join Instagram]. I always said that I wouldn’t, and then I just thought, ‘It’s been such a crazy [time]. So why not?’ It’s insane… I think Wednesday actually broke the internet, personally. She gets the credit.”

It seems that baby Wednesday also gets props for helping Grint in his acting career. Grint, whose most recent acting gig hits close to home, says the arrival of his daughter “was very interesting” and gave him “a new perspective”. The role in question is in Apple TV’s supernatural thriller series “Servant”, in which Grint takes on the role of “Julian Pearce”, a flippant and sarcastic character who plays a major role in the series alongside the leads. Season 1 saw the family deal with the grief over the death of a young child but it was only in Season 2 that Grint really understood what that grief could mean, having welcomed his daughter Wednesday during the break between the seasons. When speaking to CinemaBlend, Grint elaborated:
“It’s probably the worst show to become a part of if you’ve just become a dad. I’m an anxious person with it all in the best times. Something I had no concept of before is that kind of really powerful love, and it’s a whole kind of different type of love that you feel for a child. The kind of lengths you would go to to get that child back is something, I now have a whole new understanding of.”
Now, imagine if Grint were to reprise his role as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise again (he’s said he’s up for it!) but in ‘Harry Potter and The Cursed Child’ – where Weasley is the father of two children, Rose and Hugo Granger-Weasley. This would be another great way for Grint to showcase his method acting, just saying.
