Kanye West Voted For ‘The First Time In His Life For Someone He Truly Trusts’… Himself

today5 November 2020

Background

Kanye West – a once vehement Trump supporter and MAGA hat wearer – drew a mixture of shock, support and criticism when he announced that he would be running for president in the 2020 US Presidential Elections. Since then, his repertoire has expanded from “rapper, record producer, and fashion designer” to include “Candidate for US President”. Seriously, Wikipedia now has the last accolade written under his name, rather than his almost 25-year career as a musician. In any case, as the US undergoes the voting process, Kanye has shared who he’s voted for and – this may or may not be a shocker – he’s voted for…

Himself.

Taking to his social media accounts, the Atlanta born rapper shared two interesting facts: a) that he was voting for the first time and b) that the voted for someone he can ‘truly trust’.

The ‘Yeezus’ rapper went on to tweet a series of pictures and videos of himself and his ballot (ballot selfies is not illegal in Wyoming, but is illegal in other states), where it is obvious that the 43-year-old has written his name as an independent write in candidate alongside his Vice presidential pick Michelle Tidball. West failed to submit enough petition signatures in August to get onto the Wyoming ballot and thus had to do so.

His wife, Kim Kardashian, has also taken to social media to urge Americans to vote. In her caption, she shared:

“I VOTED!!!! Did you?!?! If you are in line when the hours of operation close at the polls, they are required to stay open and allow you to vote, so do not get out of line!”

However, there is no news of who she voted for. Nevertheless, eagle-eyed fans have noticed hints that the KUWTK’s star voted for someone other than her husband. Kim K retweeted Democrat Vice-Presidential nominee Kamala Harris’s tweet about voting and another from rapper Kid Cudi reading,

“Vote for Biden if you a real one.”

Surprisingly, the rapper managed to rake in a little over 60,000 votes. West got the most votes in Tennessee, getting the approval of 10,216 voters. In Wyoming, West received one vote (his own). West. who has had a difficult year with a very public battle with his mental health, once vowed to vote for Trump in the 2020 election telling GQ magazine,

“We know who I’m voting on… I’m not going to be told by the people around me and the people that have their agenda that my career is going to be over because of it!”

Before changing his stance in July, as he tweeted:

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States!”

It is unlikely that he will win, as West’s presidential bid failed to take off after several states denied him positions on their ballots.

West himself has thrown in the towel, admitting defeat in the 2020 election and setting his sights on the next one. In a now-deleted tweet, West is seen standing against the backdrop of a U.S. electoral map flashing in red and blue alongside the caption, “Welp. Kanye 2024,” together with an emoji of a white dove. That tweet has now been replaced with simply, “Kanye 2024”.
