‘Running Man’ – the South Korean variety show that has captured the hearts of millions around the world – is bidding farewell of one of their original members.
Filming for the show, which airs every Sunday in South Korea, takes place on a weekly basis on Mondays. As a result, following the announcement of his departure, actor Lee Kwang Soo filmed his final episode with the members of the show yesterday.

The 35-year-old actor initially announced his departure last month, with his agency, King Kong by Starship revealing that the decision was made to “prioritize his recovery” (referring to a car accident that resulted in Kwang Soo sustaining severe injuries to his ankle). The ‘Tazza’ actors departure has left many fans of the show heartbroken – after all, for 11 years, Lee Kwang Soo cemented his place as a natural entertainer. Fans took to Twitter to commemorate his last day of filming ‘Running Man’, sharing:
The best kind of laughter on Running Man are the ones when they grab onto each other 🥺🥺 pic.twitter.com/vZPg72mA5h

The beloved actor’s mother also made sure to send her son her support in the form of custom-made balloons. The text on the balloons read (as per Soompi):
“You’ve worked hard, son!”
“Thank you for being with us for 11 years. We also cheer for your life ahead.”

Kwang Soo is the third member of the original cast for the wildly popular show, following the departure of Song Joong Ki (yeap, Vincenzo Cassano himself) in 2011 and Leessang’s Gary in 2016. His departure from the show does not signify a departure from the entertainment industry, however. Kwang Soo is set to appear in the movie Happy New Year, a star-studded film starring Lee Dong Wook, Han Ji Min, Kang Ha Neul, Girls’ Generation’s YoonA, and more.

The final episode of Running Man with Lee Kwang Soo will air roughly two weeks after it has been filmed (SBS has yet to confirm the date) but we could be looking at mid-June. Until then, we have a few more episodes with the God of Variety / Framer Kwang Soo / Kwangvatar / Giraffe / Icon of Betrayal / Asian Prince. Kwang Soo’s final episode is bound to be a tearjerker (and my heart is not ready yet ?).
