Following news that she had had to be hospitalised for pregnancy complications, the singer updated fans with a photo of herself and her husband holding onto their daughter’s small hand. The singer had been in her third trimester (week 27 to the end of the pregnancy) but complications including a birth defect known as jejunal atresia. When this happens, there is a partial or complete absence of the membrane connecting the small intestines to the abdominal wall, causing a portion of the small intestines to twist around an artery that supplies blood to the colon. The couple did not know how severe the situation was and had been scheduled to proceed with emergency surgery right after the birth of their second daughter, but the chance had not been given to them.
“last night we lost our baby girl. she was born silent after fighting so hard to make it to our world.
she is at peace now and will live forever in our hearts?.”

Unfortunately, this heartbreaking tragedy is not the first that Perri has had to endure this year. Earlier in January, the singer had suffered a miscarriage at 11-weeks, then sharing in an Instagram post:
“We are shocked and completely heartbroken. I want to continue to help change the story & stigma around miscarriage, secrecy and shame. I am so sad but not ashamed. I am ever reminded how amazing and powerful women are at making life and at healing. To all the mothers who have been here and who will be here, i see you and i love you.”
Our thoughts are with Perri and Costabile during this difficult time.
