today10 November 2020

Background

The Kings of the Hallyu Wave (Hallyu being the term used to refer to the phenomenal growth of South Korean culture) Super Junior (aka SuJu) are back! As announced by SM Entertainment (the company that manages the now-9 member group), the legendary K-pop group is set to release their 10th studio album in December, almost a year after their 9th repackaged album ‘TIMELESS’.

Titled, ‘The Renaissance’, the announcement has been accompanied by gorgeous artwork from the titular period in the  European history. True to their status as Kings, the artwork for their upcoming album is an impressive mixture of motion graphics and audio narrated by the members themselves.

At the same time, in conjunction with the groups 15 year anniversary, the boys of Super Junior released the song ‘The Melody’, with lyrics contributed by members Leeteuk and Yesung. The soft, melodic track details the groups feelings of gratitude for the memories that they’ve been able to collect together up until this point.

During a recent online fan meeting, the group talked echoed the sentiment in ‘The Melody’ by sharing their gratitude for their fellow members, their fans and the people that have worked tirelessly beside them.

Heechul shared:

I can’t believe it’s already been 15 years. We all worked hard. We met when we were so young, and now we’re approaching our 40s. We’ve spent so much time together.”

While Eunhyuk took his hat off to leader Leeteuk, who has weathered many storms while being leader of the group.

“You worked hard in leading this chaotic and crazy Super Junior.”
