Watch: Rosé’s Eyes Reflect A Poetic, Honest Heartbreak In Emotional “Gone” MV

Finally, BLACKPINK’s Rosé has dropped the full music video for her B-side track, “Gone”. The track, a soulful recollection of love that once was, was first released alongside a teaser announcement for her album, ‘R’. The drop of the music video coincides with the New Zealand born singers last performance of “On The Ground”, the title track from her solo debut album, ‘-R-‘. Rosé shared on Instagram:

“Today was my last performance for ‘On the Ground’ promotions. Thank you all for supporting me throughout this whole journey Please continue to love ‘On the Ground’ and I hope you guys enjoy my ‘Gone’ music video (out in 30 minutes!!),”

The almost four-minute video (which is too short, if you ask me) sees Rosé on a rollercoaster of emotions, reflecting on the good memories that slowly become overrun with sad moments as her relationship goes from being “the one” to being “the one to let [her] down”. The music video contains the full scenes fans would have seen in the teaser, with Rosé on the old-school telephone, in the bathroom and at the bus stop alone. And where “On The Ground” showcased Rosé confidently finding herself and her priorities, “Gone” sees her picking up the pieces of her heart and deciding to leave a love that’s now dead.

At the R press conference, Rosé said of the track:

“I recorded “Gone” almost two years ago and have been dying to share it with everyone. This song is the most poetic, heartbreaking, and honest song that I have ever recorded and I am proud that it’s finally in your hands. I remember recording this and feeling all sorts of butterflies in my stomach because I couldn’t wait for you guys to hear it. I hope you feel all the emotions that are so vulnerably captured in this song.”

The singer previously confirmed during an Instagram Live session that the music video for “Gone” would drop soon, responding to fans questions with:

“Release of ‘Gone’, when? Mm, that’s a secret. I’m not going to tell you. But very, very soon.”

Hank’s (aka her adorable little rescue puppy) mum managed to troll fans with a dramatic TikTok captioned, “Here’s your #GONE MV ”, which sees her ‘merajuk-ing’ in various parts of a hallway before ending with her dramatically dabbing away tears with her tie.

And while some fans believed this was the MV she was referring to on her IG live, many were hoping for a full-blown MV, much like “On The Ground”, which has amassed over 133 million views at the time of writing. With the success of “On The Ground”, which broke the record for the most YouTube views in 24 hours by a solo K-pop artist (at 41.6million views) and beat out previous title holder PSY for his 2012 hit ‘Gangnam Style’, can we expect the same with “Gone”?

I wouldn’t be surprised, Jisoo herself has referred to Rosé as BLACKPINK’S pride and Rosé has been breaking record after record with her debut! You go girl!
