Adopt, Don’t Shop; Local Pet Shelters You Can Visit Today!

today30 April 2021

Background

The world is a much more bearable place if you have a friend by your side. Suddenly the days go by a lot faster, the sun shines a lot brighter, food tastes a lot better…etc etc etc. And who says that this ‘friend’ has to be the same species as you?!

But instead of purchasing a pet, why not head over to animal shelters instead? There are plenty of little fur babies waiting for you to take them home and rescue them! Here are some local shelters you can drop by today!

1. PAWS Animal Welfare Society

PAWS LinkedIn Profile Page

PAWS is a non-profit animal shelter that has been running since 1987. Currently, they are located in Petaling Jaya but it appears on their website that they will be moving soon to an undisclosed location. Due to this, the surrendering of animals are put on pause until further notice BUT you are still welcomed to drop by and pick up a fur baby of your choice!

PAWS also has a ‘Sponsor-a-Pet’ Programme where you can actively participate in saving an animal of your choice even if you are unable to adopt.

For more information, reach out at (03) 7846-1087 or drop an email at [email protected].

2. Second Chance Animal Society

Second Chance

SCAS began with the rescue of 12 motherless fur babies at a wet market in Jalan Klang Lama in September 2009. They have saved over a thousand stray dogs in Selangor alone and rehomed 50% of them. Located in Cheras, this shelter runs solely on public donations so it is up to you to help them achieve their goals and save as many fur babies as possible!

3. SPCA Selangor

Time Out

SPCA Selangor is an integrated animal welfare organisation registered with the Registrar of Societies and promotes kindness as well as compassion towards all animals. They have been doing a lot for lost animals over the years — since 1958! From rehoming, spay and neuter services, and campaigns to protect the lives of stray animals, they’ve got them all!

For emergencies, don’t hesitate to contact them at their ERA Center at (03) 4265 5312 between the hours of 10am to 4pm, from Tuesday to Sunday!

There are plenty of animals suffering out there and even if we can’t save them all, we can sure try.
