Truly sickening.
The gut-wrenching murder of this 10-year-old child took over South Korea due to its disturbing details. This little girl was murdered by her aunt and uncle, who reportedly had 22 cellphone videos of the abuse that they put the child through (they previously deleted them but these were later recovered by the digital forensics team to be presented as evidence).
14 out of the 22 videos were shared with the court during the first trial.
In further reports, one of the videos showed footage of the aunt forcing the child to consume dog faeces. DOG. FAECES. The aunt reportedly could be heard yelling at the little girl when she hesitates to put the faeces into her mouth. Other videos are said to show numerous instances of abuse towards the child, including one of her standing naked outside in the middle of winter.
It was revealed that the 10-year-old girl died from asphyxiation after her aunt and her uncle reportedly dunked her into a tub of water numerous times. It was further reported that before dunking her into the water, they had tied her hands and feet so that she could not resist the torture.
Autopsy findings also said that the girl was covered in bruises on her right shoulder, thighs, and face. As the prosecution shared more videos as evidence, the courtroom audience was reported to have erupted in tears, demanding the death sentence for the couple.
Korean netizens raged on social media.
“Do the same thing to them and feed them dog faeces.”
“It’s so heartbreaking…she didn’t even do anything wrong…”
“Even the devil probably cried at this story. I hope they receive all the karma.”
Earlier this year, the aunt and her husband said that they believed the girl was “possessed”. The wife was found to be a shaman. Officials said that,
“In one of the videos, the wife says they need to drive away the evil spirit.”
Prosecutors said they will continue the investigation on the 10-year-old’s mother on allegations of neglecting her child. The mother allegedly handed over a branch of a peach tree to her sister “to be used for exorcising evil spirits” from her daughter, they said.
She was divorced and had been fostering the girl alone before leaving the child with her aunt.
