Is Your Name Josh? Bow Down To The 4YO Josh, Champion Amongst Thousands In #JoshFight

today26 April 2021

Background

It all started as a single text in a group chat.

Josh Swain lives in Arizona. During the pandemic, he created a Facebook group for everybody named ‘Josh Swain’. He planned a low impact fencing-like fight with pool noodles to determine who got the official naming rights for the name ‘Josh’. To get you guys on the same page, here is the text from last year.

Of course, if you were to see the text last year, your first thought would obviously be: “This is probably a joke”. I mean, with or without the pandemic, can’t possibly happen, right? But it DID happen, and can you believe the scenes from the fight?

It was a surreal, community-like event where Joshes of all parts of the US flocked to the location dubbed the “Legendary Josh Battlefield”, categorized as a ‘religious destination’ on Google Maps. We say “community” because, despite the whole idea sounding hilarious, everyone played along. Even the po-po!

There was also food collected for everyone involved and we think that’s wholesome.

When the fight begun, it kinda looked like that final fight scene in “Avengers: Endgame” .

Uncanny.

After hours of “intense” battle, a little four year old Josh emerged as champion.

“I always fight everyone”, little Josh said, giving some words of wisdom.

Netizens were absolutely astonished to find out that this battle actually happened. I mean, why wouldn’t they be?

Fun fact: This event wasn’t JUST for the LOLs apparently. According to the Lincoln Journal Star, the combatants donated between 200 to 300 pounds of food to the Lincoln Food Bank and raised more than $8,000 for the Children’s Hospital & Medical Center Foundation in Omaha.

This is an incredible display of positive power we’ve seen from the internet. We can’t help but respect everyone involved in the event as what started off as a joke, ended up being a charity event. Congratulations to all the Joshes across the US for being a good sport!
