The phrase ‘end of the rainbow’ always sounds like a mystical myth, something that alludes to a non-existent magical realm that takes you away from the less-than-pleasant reality of the world. It is also a form of metaphor for people who endlessly chase after their ‘pot of gold’ at the end of rainbows in search of their happy endings. Irish folk tales describe that the pots of gold are owned by leprechauns, and upon being caught, one of the leprechauns promised the fortune to a poor and greedy farmer couple *if* they would be able to find it, knowing they wouldn’t.
However, a man in Indonesian did and there’s no pot of gold in sight after all. But lookit, its still so majestically beautiful.
@iri_b1 baru kali ni liat ujungnya pelangi 😅
The man can be heard asking, “Can you see? Can you see?” as he records the end of the rainbow in the drizzling rain. “This is crazy!”
He captioned the video with,
“baru kali ni liat ujungnya pelangi ?
This is my first time seeing the end of the rainbow ?)”
A commenter said,
“Ada unicorn nak turun tu
(A unicorn is on its way down)”
Another TikTok user, on the other hand, urges the uploader to dig for gold, referencing the famous folklore.
“GALI TANAHNYA CEPAT!!! DI KAKI PELANGI ADE EMAS
(DIG THE GROUND QUICK! THERE’S GOLD AT THE END OF THE RAINBOW)”
Look around the next time you find a rainbow. Who knows, you might be the lucky one!
