The UAE just beat China and the U.S. in a race to Mars

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has successfully managed to put its Hope Probe into an orbit around Mars, making it the first Mars mission successfully conducted by the Arab world.

On February 8, 2021, the spacecraft beamed back a signal confirming its place in Martian orbit, effectively winning a sort-of friendly race between the UAE, China, and the U.S. to see which country’s most recent Mars mission could reach the Red Planet first.
